Book Widgets!! Love 'em!
I don't know about you, but, I read constantly and rarely remember what I've read. So, when a friend of mine invited me to Shelfari and another one invited me to GoodReads, I had to check them out. Shelfari is great because it shows you who else is reading your books and has a competitive edge (who's read the most, recommended the most, etc.). However I like Goodreads interface a little bit better (shelfari literally puts books on a shelf..cute but not as user friendly). Now I can cruise book lists and remember what I've read, and on Shelfari, if someone has read a lot of what I've read I figure our tastes must be similar and cruise their shelves for potential new books.
Plus, both Shelfari and GoodReads have fun widgets that you can add to your blog, website or wiki (I've added mine to the bottom of the right column). So, if you're extroverted you can show the world what you've read.... Here's a sample of widgets. The Shelfari widget allows you to include your Amazon Associates information so interested visitors can click on a book they like and if they buy it you get a cut - nice touch!
